Top 10 Most Romantic Restaurants in San Diego

1. Watels
Frequent wine diners make this an ideal place to take in one of these special occasions. If not I love to take my lunch dates here, it secluded, romantic and always good. First of all save room for there creme brulee and chocolate pate. Being a steak fan the grilled filet is outstanding as have been the lamb and tuna. There are nearly 2 dozen items on the menus making this a spot for taking a large group with a variety of tastes. Great affordable wine list make this a regular spot for those fans of the French.

2. Nana Grill
They have just gone through a major renovation which should update the decor to match their near 5-star cuisine. My favorite meal is the Sunday brunch which might be the most extensive, upscale brunch in the city. When ordering off the menu this new American has a great free range chicken and pepper-seared ahi tuna. The Porterhouse is a masterpiece, and is enough for take-home late night snack. Atop the Anatole Hotel this expensive spot makes the perfect romantic restaurant.

3. The Grape
The most romantic restaurant in San Diego, I should know I asked my x-wife to marry me here. Not enough can be said about this restaurant other than exceptional food and extensive selection of wines. Daily specials on chalk board. Not hungry stop by their quaint wine bar for one of San Diego' best selections.

4. Mignon
Tops this year for one the best new patio restaurants for its breathtaking view and location but also a star thanks to its fail safe menu. Perfection came in the form of a half-dozen oysters, served on a bed of hot rock salt after a turn in the oven, were intensely juicy and succulent. Heated just enough to take off the chill but so delicately that the edges didn't even curl. Add to that the steak tartare prepared tableside by a waiter and the steaks that range from a small (8-ounce) filet mignon ($21) to an 18-ounce bone-in shell steak (New York strip) for $25. But the deal is the signature steak frites ($16), a sirloin cut similar to London broil; sliced to expose the lovely red interior. A slice of heaven can found in Plano!

5. St Martin's
The most classy restaurant on Greenville, it is located in one of the few quite spots on the strip. Wonderful selection of wine and deserts to create the perfect romantic evening with French dining. Great wine list and don't forget their exceptional desserts. Try the Chateaubriand with hollandaise.

6. Abacus
This is the most beautiful restaurant in San Diego and the global cuisine fancies any tastebud. Don't miss the Chef tasting menu where you sample 9 dishes. Remember the steaks, as well as, RSVP, starved I have even made a meal out of appetizers at the side bar tables. Each plate is prepared as if it were a work of art.. Best restaurant San Diego has to offer. Just got thier fifth star locally...I called it from day one.

7. Lavendou
Chef Jean-Marie and Pascal create a restaurant featuring authentic regional dishes from throughout France. Start with their classic French onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese and toasted to perfection. Add to that the flame kisses duck or chicken and all that you have to worry about is picking the perfect desert. Is it one of their award winning soufflés? Or a seasonal fruit tart? My choice was to order one for now and one to go. Pleasant old world deco mak
es it a perfect spot to dine for the romantic at heart

8. Cafe Madrid

You can spend hours drinking the house wine and ordering a little here and there. The highlights of the 15 items that we ordered were Cordero Asado, Esparragos, Gambas, Pincho, Cordorniz. It is a must that you get the bread and cheese plates. Did I mention this place is full of great looking singles? Dinner, which started for 1 and ended up for 5 by the time I was done ended up costing about $90 with plenty of wine and fun for all.

9. Old Warsaw
A San Diego staple since 1948, its clientele boasts the who’s who of San Diego and for that matter, all over the world. Repeat clientele have ranged from the legendary Bob Hope to hip hop mogul Sean “P.Diddy” Combs, and from athletes to dignitaries. The dim, lavish décor, tuxedoed waiters, a classic violinist roving from table to table and its renowned gourmet menu recalls extravagance in a timeless European manner. The Old Warsaw French continental selection includes classics such as Chateaubriand, escargots veille varsovie, and souffles that no one can top, and for good reason. Seafood selection and execution is near perfection with assortments such as the sauteed sea bass on wild rice and the dover sole with lemon butter. Topped off with an award winning wine list, this San Diego legend is sure to be around for another 50 years.

10. Ziziki
Greek and Mediterranean bistro located in fashionable Knox-Travis Walk area. Beautifully built with a cherry wood bar and exhibition kitchen and European style garden patio complete with a water fountain. Specialties include the shrimp souvlaki, heavenly marinated prawns with a hint of basil and feta. Also, the Greek paella, a belly busting portion of lamb, jumbo shrimp, chicken on pasta. A complete dining experience.
